Chapter 4: Dimension of Product Quality (by: Richard S. Lopez)

  1. PERFORMANCE

Maybe this sounds a silly question, but it’s not. We live in a business society dominated by demands for ever greater performance. Yet until we’re clear what performance is, focusing on it will produce only confusion and frustration.“Simple,” some people say. “Performance is getting the job done. Producing the result that you aimed at. Nothing else matters. There are no prizes for coming second.”Of course, there are such prizes, but we’ll let that pass. It’s still worth thinking carefully about the prevalent idea that only delivering results counts as acceptable performance. If you don’t reach the objectives, may be you haven’t performed well enough. This is a seductive way of thinking. It sounds tough and practical. After all, if you don’t achieve what you want, what have you done? And in today’s ultra-macho business culture, sounding tough is important, even if the reality is rather different.

  1. FEATURES- these are “bells and wrestles” that supplement or enhance the basic functionality of the products

  1. RELIABILITY- this dimension of quality deals with the ability of the product to hold up during ordinary use.

  1. CONFORMANCE- this dimension is concern with how well the product conforms to standards.

  1. DURABILITY- is the measure of product life, and it has most likely benefited the most from the modern technology.

 DIMENSIONS OF SERVICE QUALITY

  1. TANGIBLES- these are the things that the customer sees as the service is being performed
  2. RELIABILITY- just as a product must be reliable, so service personnel must be able to do their job in a consistent, accurate and dependable manner.

  1. RESPONSIVENESS- customers do not want to have to wait to be served.

  1. ASSURANCE- customers expect service personnel to be knowledgeable and courteous.

  1. SYMPATHY- service personnel must show a sincere interest in the customers and in satisfying their needs.

Electronic industry

Cellphone  was  also  a kind of electronic commerce industry. Texting refers to the abbreviated form of writing used on mobile phones and pagers with tiny screens and keyboards. It is typing and sending people very short message using the SMS (short messaging service), it is cheaper and often more convenient than actually calling everyone you know. You can send the same text message to multiple people so the technology can be used to reach many people at once, so it takes less time. You can even access somebody no matter where they are at work, at home, or they’re walking down the street.

textlaba.jpgHere in the Philippines, text messaging helped topple a government in 2001. SMS messages directed 700,000 demonstrators to Manila’s People Power Shrine to demand the removal of the former President Joseph E. Estrada, who stepped down in favor of his vice president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The 2004 election also saw SMS-used to try to influence votes including hoax that Arroyo has fleeing the country.

Every generation has its own technology. Young people discovered SMS and made it theirs. Text is really driving all the people especially the youngster who love the idea of doing something a little bit secret. It’s really very much a young person’s communication. Its popularity took all network operators by surprise.

Texting has been an “accidental revolution” and a purely costumer-driven. Texting is an extremely intimate medium and give you the ability to share moments with people – that’s one of the joys of texting.

I have three reasons why texting is very popular in our country. The first one is of course it is cheaper than making voice calls. The second is that we Filipinos love to keep in touch with everybody that we almost know. Constantly, that goes to the people in Manila, but even more for those who are in the Provinces or in abroad. Almost all of the people here in our country are working overseas, and for them texting is the cheapest way to communicate with their families at home. And thirdly, we Filipinos love to meet new people and texting gives us the opportunity to do so. What can I say it has become a part of my everyday life.

Electronics Enclosure Buying Guide

header_buyingguides.jpg

Here are some great tips to help you buy the right electronics enclosure kit. These requirements change depending on what type of electronic components you are purchasing the kit for. You can find information on electronic enclosure kits here.

1. What you should get in an electronic enclosure kit

You should try to get a kit that has Static Shielding, Impact Shock Shielding, Heat Shielding, Magnetic Shielding, and Dirt/Dust proofing. This is because Static Shielding takes into account how much electricity can be run through the enclosure and into its components, as opposed to how much is grounded and absorbed by the shielding itself. Sudden electrical surges can be damaging to electronic components, even sometimes to those that are dormant. Good grounding against power surges keeps the items stored in the enclosure safe from sudden electrical discharge. That means you have one less thing to worry about.

2. Why you should get Impact Shock Shielding and Heat Shielding

Impact Shock Shielding minimizes the damage taken by any equipment stored in the enclosure from sudden physical impact and vibrations. Needless to say, most electronic equipment is physically fragile, and thus is susceptible to damage from impact, so shock proofing is extremely important. Heat Shielding is a given as well, as most pieces of electronic equipment tend to be heat-sensitive. Some manufacturers even go so far as to place built-in heat-sinks into their electronic enclosures, allowing temperature built up inside the enclosure to be flushed to the exterior, keeping the components inside relatively cool.

3. Why you should get magnetic shielding

It is good to prevent electro-magnetic pulsing from destroying electronic equitment and you can do that with magnetic shielding. EMP bursts should be considered a threat to electronic equipment.

Your electronics are important and should be protected. By buying an electronic enclosure kit you are doing everything that you can to prevent damage to your electronics. There is nothing worse than turning on your computer and finding that you’ve lost everything on your hard drive due to some form of damage that could have been prevented. The data that you could lose, and the time that it would take you to replace all of that data should be considered, when deciding whether or not to buy an electronic enclosure kit. And some data and information is impossible to duplicate or replace. If you value your electronics, think about buying an enclosure kit. Don’t wait until it’s too late, or you’ll regret it!
